For one reason or another, Causa is always with Shinjuro. The story takes place in a future Tokyo, where the war has ended and the scars of war remain. The reigning figure is Inroku Umikatsu, a media tycoon who controls the communications infrastructure through his connections to the political and business worlds. With his vast amount of information and lucid mind, Umikatsu has led the way in solving numerous cases. However, there is more to Umikatsu's brilliant deductions than meets the eye. The "last great detective," Shinjuro Yuki, is the one who successfully reveals the "real truth" behind them. However, the world does not know this and calls Shinjuro a "defeated detective.
