A fine 19th century French Louis XV style commode sauteuse handcrafted of solid walnut in Lyon, circa 1810. This elegant chest of drawers, also referred to as a "jumping commode" because of its long legs and two large drawers, would have been a very difficult piece to carve because not only is the front curved but the sides are also curved or galbe. Original bronze handles and escutcheons adorn the fronts of each drawer. Carved, shaped apron resting on graceful cabriole legs ending in pieds de biche. The warm patina of the hand waxed finish gives the walnut an enchanting luster and enhances the overall desirability of this piece. A wonderful addition to any interior.
