To replace the element: 1. Drain the unit by loosening the drain screw. 2. Loosen and remove the filter element. 3. Unscrew and remove bowl from filter element. The bowl is reusable. Do not throw it away unless it is broken. 4. Wipe the O-ring gland clean, coat the sealing O-ring on the bowl with clean oil or grease, and return it to the gland. Tighten the bowl onto the filter element. 5. Coat the filter element's sealing O-ring with clean oil or grease, install the filter element into the filter head, and tighten it firmly by hand. 6. Run the engine and check for fuel leaks. Note: 1. Remove both the filter and filter bowl from the mounting housing and apply a light film of fuel to the O-ring. Once delivered, it leaks without lubrication to allow proper crashing. 2. If your diesel transport tank filters fuel before entering the main tank, all you need to do is get a suitable sealant for the threads.
