An impressive 19th century framed original oil on canvas still life with dead game painted by a French artist, circa mid-1800s. The painting, found in a hunting lodge in the Loire Valley, depicts the result of a successful day's hunt featuring a large wild hare with vegetables and a copper pot. Signed on the lower right side and set into a handsome walnut frame. Painted in earth tones with a soft diffusion of light, the artist's skill in rendering the details of the hare's expression and his fur brings a heightened sense of reality to this wonderful painting.
