The EX360 Series is a family of CAT IV True RMS digital multimeters with a built-in non-contact AC voltage detector, offered by Extech in three application-specific configurations. Each handheld meter combines True RMS measurement — which delivers accurate AC readings on distorted or noisy waveforms — with a 6000-count white LED backlit display and a fast 60-segment analog bargraph for viewing trends at a glance.
Extech designed the series so a technician can select the model matched to the work: the EX360 for electrical applications, the EX363 for HVAC applications, and the EX365 for industrial and commercial applications. The shared LoZ (low-impedance) function eliminates false readings caused by ghost voltages, and the integrated NCV detector with Hi/Low ranges and an LED indicator provides a quick check for the presence of AC voltage.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois.
Extech Instruments has operated as a brand of FLIR Systems since FLIR acquired it in 2007. FLIR Systems was subsequently acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2021.
The EX360 Series is built as a common multimeter platform offered in three application-tuned models. All three share True RMS measurement, a 6000-count backlit display, a 60-segment analog bargraph, the LoZ ghost-voltage rejection feature, and a built-in NCV detector, so the core measurement experience is consistent across the family.
What changes from model to model is the specialized function set layered on top of that shared platform — each model is named for the trade it targets: Electrical, HVAC, or Industrial/Commercial.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with new-condition pricing. Select the EX360, EX363, or EX365 page that matches the function set your application requires; the comparison table outlines how the three models differ.
The EX360 is the Electrical-application model of the series, adding frequency and capacitance measurement to the shared voltage, resistance, continuity, and diode-test functions.
The three models differ in their specialized functions. The EX360, for electrical work, provides frequency and capacitance measurement. The EX363, for HVAC, provides a 600 µA range for flame-rod measurement and Type K temperature measurement from -40 to 742°F (-40 to 394°C), in addition to frequency and capacitance. The EX365, for industrial and commercial work, provides 10 A AC/DC current measurement with an 11 A/1000 V high-energy fuse, along with frequency and capacitance.
Voltage, resistance, capacitance, and frequency ranges are common across the series, as is the CAT IV safety rating. The comparison table that follows details each model's measurement functions side by side.
| Model | Application | AC/DC Current | µA Current |
|---|---|---|---|
| EX360 | Electrical | — | — |
| EX363 | HVAC | — | 600µA |
| EX365 | Industrial | 1mA to 10A | — |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
