An exceptional late 18th century hand carved bleached oak French Louis XIII style monastery table handcrafted in the Normandy region near Saint Lô, circa 1890s. Having a two plank top with bread board ends, this stunning table features an apron that's richly carved on three sides with the back side left uncarved because it would have been facing the wall as the monks gathered round for meals. Raised on six carved and turned legs joined by horizontal and vertical stretchers. The long, side stretchers can be removed if necessary. This beautiful monastery dining table was designed for a grand room and seats 12-14 very comfortably. Suitable as a dining table, conference table, or could be adapted as a kitchen island.
