A 20th century French Art Deco period billot de boucher or butcher block, circa 1920s, handcrafted of mixed woods near Albi, a bustling medieval city on the banks of the Tarn River. The thick carving surface is in excellent condition, having a wonderful patina and authentic wear from decades of use in a French boucherie. Banded with polished steel iron braces that help to keep the top from splitting, this handsome butcher block sits over a carved wooden apron featuring a large center drawer for cleavers and knives with the original polished steel handle. Raised on straight legs with wood sabots. A great size, this authentic French butcher block retains its beautiful rich color and has a fresh wax and polish that allows the wood to shine. A perfect addition to any kitchen.
