Combur 10 Test

The Combur 10 Test urine test strips from Roche are used to determine 10 urine parameters. Their special design prevents the reagents of the different test fields from mixing and, in addition, the clear colour change of the reaction fields supports the simple and accurate reading of the result.

The Combur 10 test strips have a high sensitivity, which means that even the smallest pathological changes are indicated by a positive test result. The easy-to-read, vertical colour scale on the vial label, which perfectly matches reaction colors on the test strip patches, makes the reading less prone to errors, allowing particularly precise diagnostics.

Relevance of Vitamin C Suppression in Urine Testing

A high vitamin C concentration in urine often leads to false negative test results in urine diagnostics. In this case, the vitamin C present as an antioxidant prevents the reaction required for detection on the test field of the urine test strips.

Especially in the detection of haematuria, false negative results can have far-reaching consequences for therapy decisions and ultimately for the patient.

The Combur 10 test strips have a reagent paper impregnated with iodate. This reliably neutralises the antioxidant effect of vitamin C and effectively increases the test sensitivity for haematuria and glucosuria.

Structure of the Urine Test Strip

The Combur test strips from Roche Diagnostics have a three-layer structure, whereby the reagent paper is fixed to the carrier foil by a nylon net. By avoiding the use of adhesives, falsification of the colouring by dissolved foreign substances is excluded. The absorbent paper absorbs excess urine and ensures that the reagents of different test zones do not interact with each other.
