A handsome 19th century French Louis XVI style painted three-drawer commode handcrafted in the South of France near Avignon, circa 1890s. Having a beautifully distressed bluish-gray painted finish, this handsome French chest of drawers features a rectangular plank top with canted corners over a facade showcasing three full-length drawers with brass ring pulls and oval escutcheons. The upper drawer, decorated with a Greek key design, sits above the two lower drawers with painted decoration. Raised on tapered legs connected to one another through a fluted apron. The scale of the drawers ensures an ample amount of storage wherever this chest is placed. Elegant yet unpretentious, this neoclassical French commode is a wonderful addition to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
