"To maximize the life of your impeller, mount the pump as low as possible in the boat to reduce the 'suction lift' required. While it is self-priming to 3 feet, keeping it closer to the waterline ensures faster fills. Also, always use 1" ID reinforced hose on the suction side; standard thin-walled hose can collapse under the vacuum created by the pump, causing it to shut down prematurely."
