The Tampa Bay Lightning team was founded in 1992 as an expansion franchise. Named for Tampa's status as the "Lightning Capital of North America”, The Lightning played their first regular season game on October 7, 1992 and have gone on to win 3 Stanley Cup® Championships. The date of their first game and number of Stanley Cup® Championship victories has been used to create the thread counts (width of lines) within the weave of this original tartan design: 10-7-19-92-03.
