This compact converter brings high end broadcast IP transport to modern production environments by enabling the bidirectional conversion of SDI signals and IP video streams. It is designed to route video over existing Ethernet infrastructure without compromising image fidelity or workflow responsiveness. By utilizing the low latency TICO codec, the unit achieves efficient compression while preserving the quality demanded by professional broadcast operations. This makes it suitable for studios transitioning to IP based routing, as well as remote production setups that rely on flexible network distribution.
The device supports a wide range of SDI formats, including HD‑SDI, 6G‑SDI and 12G‑SDI, which allows it to integrate smoothly with both legacy and next generation equipment. SDI inputs and outputs operate at up to 12G, giving the unit the ability to handle Ultra HD signals at high frame rates. Automatic format detection ensures that the converter adapts intelligently to the incoming SDI standard. This allows operators to work confidently across mixed resolution pipelines, from 720p to full 4K DCI and 2160p Ultra HD. The system’s SDI reclocking stabilizes signals on all outputs, which helps maintain clean transmission throughout the chain.
Ethernet connectivity is central to its operation. The built in Gigabit Ethernet port routes HD video using TICO encoding at up to 1080p60, while an optional 10G optical SFP module expands bandwidth for Ultra HD content up to 2160p60. This creates a flexible bridge between SDI systems and IP networks without requiring complex infrastructure upgrades. Control is managed through Blackmagic Videohub software or compatible hardware panels, enabling routing and configuration through familiar interfaces. The converter can be updated and configured via USB or Ethernet, ensuring compatibility with evolving broadcast standards.
For environments where monitoring and operational clarity are essential, an optional front facing Smart Panel adds a color LCD and direct menu controls. This allows users to view status information and adjust key settings directly from the unit. The converter supports extensive metadata, wide color precision up to 10 bit 4:4:4, and standardized broadcast sampling at 48 kHz audio, making it fully suited for professional workflows where accuracy and consistency are critical.
