This Sebago regimental tie is inspired by the original artifact born amongst the military regiments in Great Britain, worn by British soldiers to help identify themselves on the battlefield. During the ‘20s, its diagonal stripes began to infiltrate the likes of private clubs, schools and universities too, worn as a proud symbol of membership, belonging and unity. The accessory’s widespread popularity can be traced back to 1919, when the Prince of Wales decided to wear a red and blue striped tie — representing the Grenadier Guards regiment — during an official visit to the United States. From that point onwards, the regimental tie was adopted by the Americans as a style statement synonymous with class, distancing itself from the formal connotations with which it originated. The Sebago Cherryfield tie is crafted from pure silk, elegantly alternating wide and thin stripes in blue and yellow.
