This compact seven inch monitor recorder is designed to dramatically improve how cameras are used on set, in broadcast environments and during live production. By combining a high resolution display with professional recording and monitoring tools, it adds capabilities normally found only on much larger systems. The result is a versatile solution that works equally well as a camera viewfinder, mastering recorder or portable scope.
The front panel features a vivid 1920 by 1200 touchscreen that provides ample space for viewing a full 16 by 9 image while still keeping essential on screen controls visible. Touch gestures make it easy to adjust settings, review clips and access monitoring tools, all powered by the intuitive Blackmagic operating system. A wide viewing angle ensures that multiple crew members can comfortably see the image at the same time, which is especially valuable on busy sets.
Recording quality is a major strength of this model. It captures broadcast grade 10 bit 4:2:2 files in popular formats such as ProRes and DNx, allowing footage to be edited immediately without transcoding. Dual SD card slots enable continuous recording, automatically switching to the second card when the first becomes full. This makes it suitable for long interviews, events and live productions where reliability is critical.
Professional monitoring tools are built in, including waveform, vectorscope, histogram and RGB parade. Focus assist, zebra and false color help achieve accurate focus and exposure, while support for 3D LUTs allows creative looks to be previewed on set. A tally indicator is included, making it easy to identify when a camera is live or recording in multi camera environments.
Audio is handled with equal care. Two balanced mini XLR inputs with phantom power allow direct connection of professional microphones, ensuring clean, high quality sound is recorded alongside the video. Power options include support for common L series batteries and an included universal power supply, making the unit flexible for both mobile and fixed installations.
